Nakshatra (Birth Star) Finder
The zodiac has 12 signs, but the Moon's own path has 27 mansions — the nakshatras. The one holding the Moon at your birth is your janma nakshatra, your birth star.
Long before telescopes, our tradition divided the Moon's monthly journey into 27 nakshatras — lunar mansions of 13°20′ each, every one with its own deity, symbol and temperament. The nakshatra the Moon occupied at your birth is your janma nakshatra, and it colours your nature more finely than the rashi: two people of the same Moon sign can carry very different stars.
The birth star matters practically, too. It fixes the starting point of the Vimshottari dasha — the 120-year cycle of planetary periods that Jyotish uses for timing — and it guides naming ceremonies, muhurat and matching. Each nakshatra is further divided into four padas (quarters), which fine-tune its expression.
Reading your result
Because each nakshatra spans barely a day of the Moon's travel, an exact birth time and city make the result certain on boundary days — and they are needed before the pada can be trusted, which is why we show it only then.
Your star's dasha sequence, its friendships with your other planets, and what your current period asks of you — that reading needs the whole chart, and a person on the other side of the table.
Astrology is offered for reflection, guidance and personal insight. It does not replace professional medical, legal, psychological or financial advice.
